What is the sale of the Hospices de Beaune?
The vineyards of the Hôtel-Dieu estate are the result of historical donations from patrons and raise funds for the charitable works of the Hospices de Beaune.In addition, since the end of the Second World War, the Hospices have supported other aid associations every year. They donate to these causes the profits from the sale of a piece of wine, called " Presidents' Coin ". Its auction is the highlight of the sale. Burgundy traders play the role of matchmakers for the buyers of this auction. They will take care of the ageing of the wines of these buyers until bottling, 1 year and a half after the actual sale.
