The 61st auction of the Hospices de Nuits-Saint-Georges will be held at the Château du Clos de Vougeot on Sunday, March 20, 2022. This is the event that rises in Burgundy. The auctions of the Hospices de Nuits-Saint-Georges, more modest and less publicized than their alter ego beaunoise, have been renewed for several years now, with records and new buyers at the key. For this new edition, it is the charity piece that is at the center of attention. It will be a blend of the 9 first growths of the Hospices de Nuits estate. "By creating this new cuvée, the Hospices de Nuits-Saint-Georges wanted to both express the character of the Nuits-Saint-Georges appellation and highlight the imprint of the 2021 vintage," comments the management of this hospital-winemaker, at the 13-hectare estate.
"Typical wines"
He continues: "It testifies to the character of the vintage more than of each vintage, by adding the qualities of the northern and southern wines, the high and low hillsides, the old and very old vines. We find in this cuvée finesse and elegance, a rich and flattering wine, very present and intense. It is with brilliance that begins this cuvée that it will absolutely be necessary to keep in its cellar, in order to constitute a beautiful vertical of the vintages to come!" The rest of the sale will consist of 109 pieces (barrels of 228 liters), including only one of white. Wines marked by the typicity of the vintage, according to Jean-Marc Moron, manager of the Hospices de Nuits estate. "After a series of solar vintages since 2018, the 2021 vintage of Domaine des Hospices de Nuits-Saint-Georges revives the greatest Burgundian tradition: perfect balances, typical vintages, wines with small yields and an incredible balance." The 61st auction of the Hospices de Nuits-Saint-Georges will be held at the Château du Clos de Vougeot on Sunday, March 20, 2022, at the same time as the Saint-Vincent Tournante in Puligny-Montrachet. A great weekend of festivities in perspective!
