Work has begun in Beaune, this will soon be the case in Mâcon and Chablis: the future network of three Cities of Wines and Climates of Burgundy is progressing rapidly, after years of preparation. What will these sites look like? What activities will be offered? The answers in this article.
Bordeaux has had its Cité du vin since 2016, a sumptuous building with rounded shapes. But in Burgundy, no major site dedicated to wine tourism to date. A situation that will evolve very quickly. In this vineyard renowned for its sense of hospitality, a network of three Cities of Wines and Climates will be deployed in three cities. In Beaune will be the main site, in the heart of a vast eco-district. In Mâcon, the building will be integrated into the current premises of the interprofession, on the banks of the Saône. Finally, Chablis provides its "Petit Pontigny", a Cistercian building of the twelfth century, to accommodate its wine tourism center. These last two sites should open as early as 2022.
In each of the cities we will find:
- An immersive tour, soliciting the 5 senses. On the program: words of winegrowers, discovery of the aromas of the wines, reading of landscapes and of course tastings
- A place dedicated to catering
- A shop
- Tips for visiting the area
- Training spaces
Beaune
For the external appearance of the main city, the architects were inspired by the tendril, this herbaceous part of the vine that clings to the threads. The building will be a total of 3600 m², with at its top a panoramic terrace, overlooking the vineyards of the Côte de Beaune. The work has begun, it should be completed at the end of 2022 / beginning of 2023.
