The 76th Saint-Vincent Tournante will take place on Saturday 25 and Sunday 26 January 2020 in Gevrey-Chambertin. The opportunity for lovers of Burgundy wines to gather around tastings, brass bands and ceremonies. What is Saint Vincent Tournante? It is the festival of the winegrowers of Burgundy. "Saint Vincent" in honor of the Patron Saint of the vine, the Christian martyr Vincent of Zaragoza. "Rotating", because each year a different village is designated to host the festivities. In 2020 it is gevrey-Chambertin's turn. The village of the nine grands crus is in its fifth edition. The first Saint-Vincent Tournante took place in Chambolle-Musigny in 1938. At the time, the Burgundy vineyard suffered an economic crisis, and the very young Brotherhood of the Knights of Tastevin, created to promote Burgundy wines, imagined the event. A way to federate Burgundy wine as a whole while reviving its traditions, both festive and spiritual. What is the program? Saturday morning is reserved for protocol activities. A procession leaves at daybreak. In its ranks, each village is represented by a brotherhood, which carries the statue of its Saint. The procession heads to the church, where a mass is given. The induction of the oldest winegrowers of the village by the Brotherhood of the Knights of Tastevin closes the morning. On Saturday afternoon and Sunday, the tasting cellars open and the host village comes alive. You can then stroll through the streets to admire the thousands of paper flowers that embellish them. In case of a small dip, the gastronomic stands will offer you their many specialties. And you can of course taste the local cuvées in the tasting cellars. All in a good-natured atmosphere, provided by brass bands and harmonies. Discover the detailed program on the official website of Saint-Vincent Tournante 2020. How to participate? Admission is free.
