The capital of Burgundy will welcome visitors to its International City of Gastronomy and Wine from May 6, 2022, announced the Mayor of Dijon, Mayor of Dijon, in a speech Friday, January 7. It will be the only city of gastronomy open on the national territory. The Cité internationale de la gastronomie et du vin (CIGV) in Dijon will open its doors to the public on 6 May. This was announced by François Rebsamen on the occasion of the 2022 vows ceremony. For the mayor of Dijon, this site will celebrate "the French art of living, at the foundations of our values of sharing and living together".
One million visitors expected
Built on the former general hospital, the CIGV offers a second life to buildings built between the fifteenth and eighteenth centuries, not far from the historic center of the capital of the Dukes. At its heart, exhibition spaces will aim to tell and make recognize the Gastronomic Meal of the French and the Climats of the Burgundy vineyards, both classified as intangible cultural heritage by UNESCO. The place will also host food artisans, restaurants, a prestigious hotel, and cinemas. You will be able to train in cooking and oenology, participate in masterclasses or conferences and attend screenings. In terms of partnerships, la Cité internationale de la gastronomie et du vin will welcome leading players, such as the Ferrandi cooking school and the Burgundy Wine School of the Bureau interprofessionnel des vins de Bourgogne (BIVB). This new destination expects "one million visitors" every year. Other sites, more specifically dedicated to wine, are to open in the following months in Burgundy: the Cités des climats and Vins de Bourgogne, in Beaune, Chablis and Mâcon.
